Pluto in the Houses- House One

In order to understand these placements, the entire chart must be analyzed. These generic definitions are only the tip of the iceberg in the larger script of your life.

PLUTO IN HOUSE ONE: The Need to be Empowered in the Physical

The first house represents our physical vessel (the body) and our earthly environment.  When you think of the first house, picture a toddler discovering the world around her/him.  Everything is based on touch, taste, sound, sight and and smell. Here we become aware of things existing on different heights such as adults being taller, chairs and tables being out of reach. This discovery will eventually propel the toddler in later years to conquer these boundaries by climbing the heights that seemed out of reach (evolution).

When we think of the First House in astrological terms, we think of something quite similar to what I have described. Our physical presence and the need to be grounded are of paramount importance in the House One. Who we are in this incarnation, what our earthly realm is like and our relationship to both.  We can also equate House One to the Root Chakra- Survival and Safety of the physical body.
The position of Pluto regardless of the house placement can indicate several things. I will list them all for you since not all will apply.

1) If your Pluto falls in House One there is generally a need to be grounded and to live in the Now. The soul has probably lived past lives that were very Neptunian and was able to traverse different realms with great ease. This could also have applied in reaching those high states through drugs and alcohol.  In this life, the challenge lies in being able to access to those higher spiritual realms while remaining grounded. Lessons that revolve around grounded spirituality are often highlighted.  A perfect example of people able to be very grounded and spiritual are the 14th Dalai Lama and Pope Francis. Both have Pluto in Cancer, House One.

2) If your Pluto falls in House One there is basic feeling of fear and terror around physical violence with a possible history of physical abuse. This abuse can be experienced either on the self or by watching loved ones be physically abused.  The soul will resonate and possibly identify with physical violence and grow to be extremely weary of people with loud voices or aggressive personalities. This placement is perfect for someone who experienced violence in their childhood home and grew up to become a spokesperson against domestic violence.  The karmic lesson could also point to having to overcome physical abuse in the childhood home and to become empowered in spite of this.
A beautiful example of this is Actress Charlize Theron who watched her mother shoot her abusive husband in self-defense. In spite of this traumatic upbringing, Charlize grew up to become an empowered and extremely successful actress.

2a) If your Pluto falls in House One, This could also point to several past lives of physical abuse. In this life the soul will learn how to become self-empowered in the physical form and not to fall prey to any abuse.  The unfortunate case of Sharon Tate, the actress brutally murdered by Helter Skelter may also point to this position.  Sharon Tate also had Pluto in House One.

3) If your Pluto falls in House One there is a need for the physical vessel to help the soul achieve karmic lessons through having a powerful persona.  The physical body is extremely important as a conduit to their spiritual mission. People with Pluto in the House One almost always have a powerful and charismatic persona.  Examples that require no further explanations are: Leonardo diCaprio, Britney Spears, Meryl Streep, George W. Bush, Joaquin Phoenix, Abraham Lincoln, Prince Charles, Alexander the Great, Nikola Tesla and Sting.
